Denelda is of African origin, derived from the Zulu name 'Ndlalindelwa', which means 'we have waited for her'. It is often spelled Denalda or Danaelda, but Denelda remains the most common spelling. The name gained popularity in South Africa during the mid-20th century and has since spread to other countries with African diaspora communities.
