Evonna is of Greek origin and means 'merry' or 'happy'. It was created by American author Alice Childress for her character Evonna Brown in the play 'Trouble in Mind', first performed in 1955.
"The name Evonna saw fluctuations over the years, with peak popularity between 1990 and 1995, and again from 2006 to 2010, before tapering off recently."
