Minh is of Vietnamese origin, meaning 'bright' or 'intelligent'. It's traditionally given to boys and is composed of two characters: '明' (míng) meaning bright, and '心' (xīn) meaning heart. Minh was particularly popular during the 20th century in Vietnam.
The name Minh experiences considerable fluctuations in popularity over time, with peaks of up to 22 births in a single year (1982) and lows of just 5 births (1977, 1991, 1994). The most popular decade was the 1980s, accounting for nearly half of all Minh births since 1977.
