Jeffery is a variant of Jeffrey, derived from the French name Geoffroi, which is itself a derivation of the Germanic name Godfrey. The latter is composed of two elements: 'god' meaning 'good', and '-frid' translating to 'peace'. Thus, Jeffery denotes someone who brings or promotes peace and goodness. It was introduced during the Middle Ages in England when Normans brought their French culture and naming practices.
"The name Jeffrey experienced significant popularity from the late 1940s to the mid-1960s, peaking with 52 births in 1963 and 49 births in both 1967 and 1968. However, its usage declined notably after that period, with fewer than 30 births recorded annually from the late 1970s onwards, reaching a low of just 5 births in 1995."
