Ramone is an uncommon given name of American origin, derived from Italian and Spanish surname Ramon. It was brought to prominence through the influential punk rock band The Ramones, which took its name from a combination of Paul McCartney's middle name (Ramond) and the family name of drummer Tommy Ramone (last name Erdelyi).
Between 1978 and 1986, the name Ramone was given to twelve babies in total, with seven of those being born in 1986 alone. This is a significant increase from the five births recorded in 1978.
