Chrystle is of American origin and means "golden-haired". It is considered an invented name, first popularized by actress Tippi Hedren who named her daughter, the model Melanie Griffith, Chrystine in 1960. The variant spelling with a 'y', Chrystle, began to appear in the mid-20th century and has since gained some popularity as well.
The name Chrystle had a peak popularity in the mid-80s with notable years being 1985 and 1986, where it reached its highest point with 23 and 21 births respectively. However, it seems to have been less popular from the late 70s onwards, with fewer than 10 births per year after 1979.
