Persephone is of Greek origin, meaning "Destroyer" or "She who destroys". It is derived from the Greek goddess Persephone, who was abducted by Hades, the god of the underworld, to be his wife. In the myth, she spends six months of the year in the underworld with her husband and six months with her mother Demeter on Earth, which is why autumn and winter are associated with her name.
"Persephoni saw eight newborns enter the world in 2014."
